As mentioned in our previous post, BitCandy will be covering the past, present, and future of the day to day use of cryptocurrency payments in Seoul, Korea. For our third installment in the series, we interviewed the Chief Technology Officer of Shuttle Delivery, Florian Wermelinger.
You can now get your favorite chicken quinoa salad delivered to your apartment and pay for it using Bitcoin, thanks to Seoul’s top food delivery service, Shuttle Delivery.
Shuttle describes themselves as a Korean and English-friendly food delivery service between restaurants in Seoul, and their customers. Shuttle delivers the best food from Itaewon, Gangnam, Hongdae, Pyeongtaek and other areas directly to your doorstep. We interviewed Florian Wermelinger, the company’s Chief Technology Officer about the recent integration of Bitcoin into the company’s payment processing.
Shuttle integrated Bitcoin as a payment option in July 2017, and Bitcoin Cash in March 2018. Wermelinger states that currently, Bitcoin payments occur a few times a week. The company is exchanging their Bitcoin to fiat only at ‘irregular times’. He adds, “We don’t keep it for speculation, just for convenience. If the number of transactions increases, we will exchange it more regularly.” He added that unfortunately, the company still has to pay their bills in fiat.
“We wish customers would use it [Bitcoin] more often because it is definitely more economic than credit cards or other existing payment providers.” – Florian Wermelinger, CTO of Shuttle Delivery
Florian ensures that the founders of Shuttle are all crypto enthusiasts and very excited about what will come next during the progressive era of the adoption of cryptocurrency into everyday life. “The most important thing for us is to make payments and the ordering process as convenient as possible for our customers. We are also open to adding more currencies in the future if there is an advantage for our customers,” Florian adds.
The BitCandy team members are supportive customers of Shuttle Delivery. Have you ever ordered a meal through Shuttle using Bitcoin? We want to hear from you!
